TOUGH/Love Class - 12/12/09


Great class with a great turnout. First half involved a tough warm up and then a fun collection of exercises performed in groups of two. The second half was wonderfully relaxing as usual and left everyone buzzing with positive energy as they walked out.

Looking forward to this coming week, Thursday 12/17 @ 6:30pm and Saturday 12/19 @ 10am!

Feedback from a TOUGH/love student..

Just wanted to say that I'm a huge fan of this class!

This program is just what every person needs (no matter his/her ability). I've tried to find balance in workouts for years and ended up injured. It's awesome that you've put together a class to achieve balance in just 90 minutes.

I'm not the strongest person in the class---just take a quick look at my push ups about 30 minutes in and you'll know exactly where I rank! And I admit that about 10 minutes into the class, Josh, I think attending was the craziest idea I've had all day.

However, the feeling afterward is priceless and I know it will make me a better runner, cyclist and yogi.

It's great that you encourage everyone to listen to their bodies and modify certain exercises. We should probably all listen to you a lot more.

I'm still feeling the ab and shoulder work from Saturday---no joke...have had to roll out of bed each morning because I cannot use my abs anymore to pull myself up! (That's a good thing I presume:).

I've convinced a friend to join tonight's class. She's completely intimidated but I know she'll have an awesome time.

This class is humbling, cathartic, and energetic. Thanks so much for holding it. It's definitely changing the way I train for races.

And The Classes Contunue!

Classes last week went so well, especially with so many of you venturing out through the snow to make it on Saturday!

We are expecting a good turn out for tomorrow and this coming Saturdays class and both Pleasance and I are excited to work with all of you. We would love to get some feedback if you have the time, either email us or leave it on this site through the comments link at the bottom of each post. While this class is the only of it's kind in the greater DC area, we are very open to hear what people are thinking so that we can continue to grow this class to the best of it's ability.

What a week!

So we just had our first two classes this week ( one on Thursday and one on Saturday).
My quads are in pain from the TOUGH part ( especially since I did both of Josh's workouts ), but I hope I gave some much needed recovery yin yoga to our participants .

Even though I barely had a voice on Thursday and today it was a little better ( but still a cough that won't go away!!!) I think the classes were a success! BIG shout out to all of our friends who came to support us this week!

Also, thanks to Jenny Page and Ryan Walsh ( who came to class today) who are the amazing TOUGH/love logo designers and have created some materials for us. Take one after your next class and tell your friends!

THIS IS THE ONLY CLASS LIKE THIS GOING ON IN THE CITY RIGHT NOW!
This is a COMPLETE body/mind workout!

The next class will be after Thanksgiving!

First Class!

Thanks to all you who braved the crazy weather Thursday and made it out to the official first Tough/Love class at lululemon Georgetown. We had a great turnout, and an even better class! Everyone ran through a high intensity workout where the warm up was tougher than most peoples gym time, and a great full-body circuit to finish. We all then wiped the sweat off and relaxed with Pleasance and her amazingly run Yin Yoga portion of the class.

The energy in the room after class was incredible, and the feedback was great!

We welcome anyone and everyones comments, feedback and questions as we are constantly looking to make this class the absolute best it can possibly be. We are excitedly looking forward to this coming Saturdays fun, and we look forward to having a set schedule so everyone can enjoy this awesome class!

Welcome to TOUGH / Love

TOUGH / Love is a unique fitness class focusing on balancing two important aspects of physical well-being. The first 45 minutes will be an array of high intensity functional movements set to time helping each person build strength, power and endurance, while the second 45 minutes will be a calming and regenerative form of Yoga.

Pleasance comes from an extensive Yoga background, with experience in almost every tradition. She has recently focused her teaching on prenatal and postnatal yoga/health. Pleasance has found a love for yin yoga and is excited about sharing it with the community.
She is also the founder of lil omm yoga (www. lilomm.com).

Courage was voted Washington DC's best trainer for 2009 and holds multiple certifications including a CrossFit level 1certification. His background in professional sports and his unique styles of training has made him the go-to strength coach for athletes and weekend worriors alike in the greater DC area (www.courageperformance.com).
